Family Film Night
Now in its third year, the NoMa BID sponsors Family Film Night at Sursum Corda, where families and children gather for free family-centric movies (also fitting the ‘Outlaw Hero’ theme) and free food. Family Film Night will take place on four Tuesdays this summer:
- July 9: Despicable Me: (Universal Pictures) Gru is planning to steal the moon. (Yes, the moon!) Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. PG
- July 23: Toy Story 3: (Pixar) The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it’s up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren’t abandoned and to return home. G
- August 6 (in conjunction with National Night Out): Happy Feet: (Warner Bros) Into the world of the Emperor Penguins, who find their soul mates through song, a penguin is born who cannot sing. But he can tap dance something fierce! PG
- August 20: How to Train Your Dragon: A hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. PG
The movies will be held in Sursum Corda in the plaza at L and First Streets, NW. The event starts at 7 p.m. with kid-centric activities and free food. Films start at sunset. Many thanks to our sponsor Harris Teeter for providing all the food for this event!
