The NoMa BID was a sponsor of the InDC non-profit forum which took place on June 5th. The event highlighted the numerous resources provided by the Federal Stimulus and other tax exempt financing options that are available for non-profits looking to move into the District of Columbia. Attendees included City Administrator Neil Albert and representatives from NPR and Urban Institute, both slated to move to NoMa, both of which spoke of their site selection process and reasoning for choosing NoMa as their future home. With lower lease rates, access to public transit and a convenient DC location, NoMa was highlighted as an ideal location for non-profits looking to locate in Washington, DC.

NoMa Development Update

As development projects across the country are slowing down or stopping altogether, construction in NoMa is moving forward at full steam. A few of the projects are highlighted below.

111 K Street

The office building at 111 K Street NE is making fast and steady progress. With the Sierra Club, YWCA and others awaiting the arrival of the office building, there is much anticipation as the project is slated to top out in July.

Sentinel Square Topping Out

The list of buildings topping out is adding up in NoMa as Sentinel Square will be topping out next week. Sentinel Square is located at 90 K Street at the corner of K and 1st Streets NE. The office building, being developed by Trammell Crow Company is slated to be completed in 2010.

100 K Street

J Street Development recently demolished the Laidlaw building, an old school bus repair facility at 1st and K Streets NE, to make way for a new office condo building at 100 K Street NE.

Circulator from Union Station

The Circulator recently added a line from the Navy Yard to Union Station. This new addition complements the other Circulator route that goes from Union Station to Georgetown. With a new route running from the Navy Yard, through Capitol Hill and arriving at Union Station, there is one more way to get travel to NoMa, truly making it a transportation hub. The Circulator only costs $1 and runs from Union Station to Navy Yard Monday through Friday from 6AM to 7PM plus service during Nationals games and the Georgetown service runs from 7AM to 9PM.
