Event Details

Please join the NoMa BID and Maryland-based, Mexican artist Gerardo Camargo for an artist talk about Camargo’s inspiration behind his installation at the NoMa Lobby Project at 1200 First St. NE.

Camargo’s wall installation, mainly created through the use of discarded construction material he collected at construction sites in Maryland and DC, invites the viewer to think about the different implications of abstraction and architecture, and the social and environmental dynamics involved in the residential construction industry. Significantly, the installation invites the viewer to ponder the role and importance of different minorities, mostly immigrants, in building the American dream and the true social and environmental cost of that dream.

The event will kick-off at 6:00PM with refreshments and an opportunity to experience the art and meet the artist.

Beer, wine and light bites will be provided.

6:30 PM – Artist Talk
