To continue improving the Metro system, the downtown portions of the red line (Dupont Circle to NoMa-Gallaudet U) will be closed this weekend. From 10pm Friday, September 7 until closing Sunday, September 9, the following downtown Red Line stations will be closed:
- Farragut North
- Metro Center
- Gallery Place-Chinatown
- Judiciary Square
- Union Station
During the closure, the red line will be divided into two sections: Shady Grove to Dupont Circle and Glenmont to NoMa-Gallaudet U.
To accommodate, there will be two sets of shuttles to carry passengers around the affected areas:
- Local service from Dupont Circle to NoMa, serving all closed stations.
- Limited stop service: serving Dupont, Metro Center, Gallery Place, and NoMa.
