Alethia Tanner Park Tour
June 19 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Free
This tour of NOMA’s Alethia Tanner Park, led by Jeffrey Aten and Bradley Odom of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, is organized as part of The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s (TCLF) What’s Out There Weekend D.C. Jeffrey and Bradley will walk participants through the design of this park along the Metropolitan Branch Trail and tell the story of its namesake, the formerly enslaved educator and advocate Alethia Tanner. What’s Out There Weekend D.C. celebrates the District’s cultural landscape legacy through a weekend of free, expert-led tours featuring dozens of sites, including national icons, gardens, campuses, plazas, public parks, and cultural institutions. An online city guide and printed guidebook will be produced in tandem with the Weekend and available on TCLF’s website (tclf.org)
