Notice from Pepco:

Pepco is entering the last phase of the project to bring additional capacity to the NoMa neighborhood and H Street NE corridor.  Pepco has already installed the new 69kV cable from Pepco’s Benning Service Center to the Northeast Substation and installed the new network group consisting of six new 13kV feeders.  We now have to bring these new feeders into service.  This is achieved by taking load off existing feeders and “cutting over” this power to the new network group.  No service interruptions are planned or anticipated with this cut over work.

Pepco will complete the work over the weekend of Thursday, May 17 to Monday, May 21. Crews will be working in the manholes on K St. NE at North Capitol St., First St., and 2nd St. and on North Capitol St. just north of K St. NE.  The work will start at 7 PM Thursday, May 17 and continue almost around the clock until Monday morning, except rush hour Friday morning.  The manholes on K Street NE are on the south side of the street; therefore, traffic will be diverted to the north side of K Street NE.  The manhole on North Capitol Street is in the eastern-most lane, causing one travel lane to be closed.  Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the project and have been coordinated with DDOT.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mike Bell, Manager, Customer Relations, Pepco, 301-548-4352 or [email protected].
